Case studies

The Campaign for Real pet Food is all about revealing the truth about what's in pet foods - and what these foods are doing to our pets.
This section is all about highlighting real life cases where diet has played a key role in the health or behaviour of pets. This isn't scientific evidence and doesn't prove our case beyond doubt - but if you read some of these cases, you'll begin to appreciate how much really strong anecdotal evidence there is supporting the case against artificial additives and other unhealthy ingredients in pet foods.

Sid was a big, old Labrador with ongoing diarrhoea and a tendency to an upset tummy. I was treating him with acupuncture for generalised arthritis, however it wasn’t until I advised his owners to change his diet from the processed chicken and rice onto a home-cooked, natural diet, that his digestive system settled down and his stools became normal. In fact after a few months on his new diet of home cooked brown rice, mixed with freshly cooked meat and seasonal vegetables, Sid was a new dog! His coat was glossy and his energy levels were much better. His diet is based on the principles of the Traditional Chinese Medicinal ‘food therapy’, where foods are used on the basis of their heating and cooling properties as well as their specific nourishing qualities.
